Today is what is known in our household as “Christmas Adam” since tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Adam was created before Eve. Get it? Yeah, I know, we have a collective quirky sense of humor in the Ward household. I brought that term into the marriage. It’s not original to this family.
It’s the day where every last thing must be done so tomorrow will be a more mellow day. Come back tomorrow and you’ll see why it’s important for me to have all my doo-dads done.
In the last week, I’ve shopped, baked nine cakes (five of which were fiascos but given as gifts anyway), and dealt with failure (the cakes really did a number on me and I realized all over again how I struggle to get things just right and get so mad when they go awry). We hosted our church youth over for appetizers and had family over for supper on another night. I feel like my car is on autopilot to Publix.
I’m ready for rest. What about you all?
Today, I will literally wrap up Christmas. Then, I think I’m going to take a nap, read the Christmas story in Luke, write in my prayer journal and just be still. I may rent a movie to watch with the guys. I’ve got a hankering for “Elf” and some quality sitting time.
Merry Christmas to you all!
