Praying Thanks

“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers.” – 1 Thessalonians 1:2

Two study groups wrapped up their week of spending time on their first lesson yesterday. Both commented on Paul’s encouragement to the Thessalonian people in this letter.

As he begins his letter to them and greets them, he reminds them that he thanks God for them as he, Silas, and Timothy pray for them.

This letter is one containing several topics. Among those topics is discipling others. These converts to Christianity who are enduring some difficult times are prayed for by the men who preached the gospel to them so that they became believers in Christ.

Part of discipling is prayer. Part of Christian living is prayer.

We all have some type of influence as a discipler and we have been influenced by those who disciple us.

I’d like for you to think about who has been an influence in your walk with God and pray for them. Furthermore, consider those whom God has brought to you to disciple. Pray for them. If the Lord leads you to go a step further and write them an encouraging note, then go for it!

Follow Paul’s example today.

With that in mind, I want to give a shout out to my sister, Louann, who has been a tremendous influence in my life as a Christian. Today is her birthday and I am thanking God for her life, her testimony, her love, and her example to her baby sister.

  1. Thank you, beloved sister, for the birthday greeting. What a blessing you are to me! I look forward to celebrating with you soon! Love, Louann

  2. That is awesome..What a difference it would make in this world if we were all encouragers…smile
