Recapping Today’s Hebrews Time

First, you have homework for this post. Get ready. Now read.

I have the sweetest, most supportive group of ladies who bear with me in Bible study. The Wednesday night group is learning what kind of person and teacher I am. Bless their hearts. The Thursday group has learned for the most part and they still come back.

But, after today, I just don’t know. I rehashed today’s lesson and dvd time with Rob over lunch. He reminded me that my expectations are just too high for myself (I’m thinking “life” in general when he said that very lovingly).

You know, we can plan and plan and plan as to how something will play out and invariably something will happen to just sideswipe our joy. I thought we were rolling along so well in the discussion time and had some great feedback and a chance to work through most of the controversy in Hebrews 6. Although we didn’t get all the way through I knew the dvd would cover what we had not. So, fine.

The dvd player/projector setup where we meet is fabulous, but specific as to how it likes to operate. Kind of like me, the more I think about it. Anyway, once the projector was convinced that a dvd was in the player we began. Forty-five minutes into the hour-long teaching dvd (picture a room full of women writing fast and furiously) the dvd began to stick and skip and stick.

Do you know what happens when that type of glitch happens?

EVERYBODY TURNS AROUND TO LOOK AT MOI! I felt….exposed. It’s a normal reaction, though. I’ve done it myself to others.

I couldn’t believe it. This exact same thing at the same time on the player happened last week with a different dvd. I’m not kidding. I had tested the dvd at home and it played just fine. I took notes…good thing.

We ended up deciding that I’d just have to read the last 15 minutes of notes to them. How boring. Oh well. Couldn’t be helped. Yes, I ejected the dvd, blew on it, blew in the player, wiped off the slider thing the dvd sits upon…Y.E.S. I did my part.

I’m going to secretly slip in the place during the coming week and cast out the demon from the player and anoint it (the player and not the demon) with oil. Oops, I guess that’s not a secret anymore.

The lessons I learned? God is still trying to teach me to be flexible; that I can plan a thing to death but there are just some things out of my control!!!!! Obviously technical difficulties is one of those things.

It’s just so frustrating.

Here’s your homework. Find a Scripture that you would rely on in just a situation and post the address in the Bible as a comment. Come on now, help me out.

I bet somebody else reading this could use a good word from the Word for times just like this.

  1. Proverbs 3:5-6…Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

This verse has gotten me through many days.

  2. Phillipians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.

  3. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

    Stretching increases flexibility!
