Thankful for Advent

2 Corinthians 9:15 – “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”  (NASB-95)

Advent – 1- the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas and observed by some Christians as a season of prayer and fasting. 2 – a: the coming of Christ at the incarnation b:  second coming (from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary)

During the next four weeks, Christians the world over will celebrate the season on the Christian calendar known as Advent.

In my quest for finding a good devotional to read during this season, I am drawn back to the one I used a couple of years ago for the blog Advent study.  Immanuel, by Ann Spangler, continues to remain my number one pick for using in the days preceding Christmas and the 12 days of Christmas.  So, for six weeks, I pick it up and read it following the Scriptures referenced and the prayer prompts given during the week.

If you are looking for such an Advent guide, secure a copy of it right away and begin the Advent trek.

I am thankful for this time of year as Christmas Day approaches.  It affords me the opportunity to reflect once more on God’s incarnation in Jesus.

As Ann writes her book pulling out names of God and Jesus, it reminds me once more of God’s holy and righteous nature as well as His sovereignty over history and the days in which we live and the days to come.

Encouragement:
Come along with me and take time each day to sit still and be quiet as you draw near to the Creator and gaze on the wonder of Christmas from a renewed perspective.
Opportunity for Response:
How are you preparing Him room in your heart, home, and family this Advent?
