The Prom Pic on the Promenade

It has been a whirlwind of a weekend. It concluded last night with a literal whirlwind that caused some damage and power outages in our Midtown area. I remember thinking to myself as I put my head on the pillow last night amidst the tornado sirens blaring and the weather man telling us where the swirling wind should be expected to touch down that I was just too sleepy to be bothered with staying awake and worrying. And so I fell asleep and awoke this morning to the news of the predicted area of town being hit with damage to some structures, power outages, and trees down.

Another event that took place was David’s prom. This was not his first prom. Last year, he escorted his precious Valerie to her first prom. This was his first prom from his school and I just happened to have a picture to share with you. I actually have bunches of pictures, but I managed to take just one on my cell phone and it’s easier to transfer to my computer. So, that is the one you will manage to see. Her dress was a scrumptious shade of green and her hair was all pulled up in sweet curls and a poof in just the right spot. He looked so good in his tuxedo and vest with a tie. I could barely stand it seeing the youngest looking so handsome and not the little boy I think he is. It’s difficult growing up…difficult for the parents, that is.

I was going to transfer Rob’s and my prom pictures to the computer and put them up here, but we cannot compete with the picture above. And, well, quite frankly I was afraid you’d chuckle more than ooh and aah. It’s funny looking at our transformations from teenagers to adults. We have a lot of changes in our photos through the years and mostly mine. I should create a flip book of photos of me and title it, “The New Do Review”. It would range from photos from short to long, curly perms to straight by nature, bleached by the sun to highlighted in debt! The bonus feature would be a picture of me finding my FIRST silver hair a month ago! My hairdresser was so excited! I’m glad somebody was.

Time marches on. It makes me reflect even more on Solomon’s words in Ecclesiastes 3:1-9, but specifically the first verse.

“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven …”

  1. I saw some of the prom pics last night on FB. So pri’tay!
You raised a handsome young man. And Val’s dress is gorgeous!

Oh and…Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life. Proverbs 16:31

  2. Hey, Sister! I saw photos on FB from Donna! The whole crew looked so colorful. David does indeed look so handsome. I need to tell him so in FB.

Silver hairs – don’t you hope ours will be pretty like Daddy’s? Until then, I’ll be getting my annual highlights to camouflage the silver at the end of May.

April has been full of roaring storms this year. Glad you are safe.

    Love ya! Louann

  3. They are a beautiful couple! I am so glad to see their picture! I think all had a great time! I did stay up for the storms! I was not happy to do it, but I was kinda worried that it was coming closer to us than I was comfortable with. I am fighting a big, bad cold and was ready to sleep! Oh well, we were safe, thank you God!
