The Writing on the Wall

My sister who lives in Franklin, TN volunteers at her church library. We both love books. In this time of trying to save money, that has been one of the biggest challenges for me…not buying books. Anyway, her church, Judson Baptist, has just completed a building phase and they have some new library space! If you love books, too, then your mouth may be drooling over the thought of the smell of a fresh library and new book smells.

Louann created a Facebook group for the library fans. Yes, I’m a fan. She posted a request for some Scripture verses that would be appropriate to paint on the walls of their new space. Right off the bat, I would NOT suggest the one from Daniel where God’s finger wrote on the wall at a party that the king was going to die because he’d been found lacking and BAM, he died that night. The actual handwriting said, “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.” Not a happy library thought. Don’t put that on the wall! I thought of it, though because that’s the first time somebody wrote some handwriting on the wall; The Somebody, that is!

One verse that might be appropriate is, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” from Psalm 119:105.

So, if you’re reading this today, what verse would you put on the wall at Judson Church Library? Leave the verse and it’s address “on the wall” in the comments. Not sure how to leave a comment? No problem. On the left of this page you’ll find directions for doing so. I’ll be posting them after you’ve submitted them. They don’t show up instantly. So, go ahead and get those verses out there for a suggestion! Thanks on behalf of my sister and Judson’s Library.

  1. Hebrews 4:12 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

…kind of long, but still one of my favs!

  2. Can’t think of a verse right now, but I have a book for you. I’ll bring it Thursday. Remind me to tell you about a very special moment my dad and I shared this week. God is so good!!
