31 Days of Simple Goodness: Who Will Speak Up for the Family?

To the family of God, believers in Jesus Christ,

Family, as defined and ordained by God is under attack.  The Church is even confused.

Family is a precious and vital institution created by God smack dab in the middle of the perfect garden.

After consuming the forbidden fruit, the family became aware of good and evil and was banished from the garden to toil in labor and labor in pain.

Who will go out on a limb for God’s definition of family?

Maintaining God’s definition of family involves some labor, too.  Have we forgotten that our labor on His behalf is not in vain?

I have seen how many within the Church have grown complacent in laboring on behalf of the family as defined by God. Some have given in and given up.  The labor is hard and can cost relationships with relatives, coworkers, and friends as truth is shared (in a loving way, please).

My husband and I were brought up in families where everything traditional according to Christian values was the norm. There was a standard by which to live.  It was the Bible above the world’s opinion.  It is not outdated.  However, the Church is acting as if it is.

Some are struggling to follow that standard.  Embracing the world’s view of marriage and life’s beginning is the norm for many who warm the seat in a church.  The world’s view is contrary to God’s view.

Families within the Church, we must prioritize our lives so that we make God first in our families.  Honor Him.  Honor His Word.  Know Him.  Know His Word.  Let us labor to keep our families in tact as they represent God’s family remaining together.  Let us labor to clarify to our children what God says about family and life.

We mustn’t turn our heads away as if all is okay in the Church on this subject.  We don’t seem to give a hoot.

The Church is not wanting to know, accept, and speak God’s Word on some subjects in order to keep the peace among loved ones, friends, and coworkers.  Even corporations are more vocal against the traditional family than the Church is being for it. (Cue those slogans from media, stores, cities and individuals that support all agendas contrary to the truth.)

The Church is marrying the world’s views on issues that need to sync with God.  We must be careful.

We are playing the prostitute with the things of the world in order to not offend the world.  We are more chicken than wise when it comes to taking a stand on anything in line with Him and contrary to the world.  It’s just easier to nod and agree than to go against the flow of modern thought that is loving of all, except Jesus Christ.

But Christ is in the midst, aware of these issues among believers, and we are accountable to Him for not speaking the truth in season and out. We must speak it out of obedience to Him.  We must give a hoot.

We’re asleep on a branch that is cracking and about to splinter off to the family’s detriment.  It’s time for us to wake up and speak up.

Family as God created it is one man married to one woman who just might have some children.  It is simple and it is good. Church, it all got so complicated when we quit paying attention to the Head of our Family.  Let us labor to speak the truth, wisely.

  1. YES, YES, YES. I MAY BE SIMPLE MINDED, BUT HOW ON EARTH CAN WE POSSIBLY THINK OF fAMILY IN ANY WAY LESS THAN A MAM AND A WOMAN AND POSSIBLY BLESSED WITH A CHILD OR MORE.

    • As you know “family” is being redefined all the time in our culture. It’s sad that so many within in the Church are hiding their heads in the sand rather than being bold to take a truthful stand when the opportunity presents itself. There’s no need to be bashing others in the delivery of the message, but truth needs to be communicated rather than avoided.
